3 Chanel Wallets Perfect for Gifting
(to others or to yourself)
My favorite wallet I ever owned is the Chanel Timeless Bifold in Black Caviar Leather. It featured minimalist branding and was slim enough to fit not only into mini bags, but also my pocket. Sadly, our time together was cut short when it was stolen.
The style is no longer made, they are hard to find in the secondary market, and even those in moderate condition sell for 2x the original cost I paid almost ten years ago. (Friendly reminder that this is why you should Mynt your bags!) Alas, I must move on.
The following Chanel wallets stand out from the crowd for various reasons, but all would make excellent gifts for Chanel fans on your holiday list — yourself included!
For the mini-bag lover
For those, like me, who want their wallet as slim as possible, I recommend the latest version of Chanel’s Small Wallet. Measuring a demure 3.5 × 3.9 × 1 inches, it fits nicely into mini bags and is even slim enough to slip into your back pocket (though after losing my Chanel Timeless Bifold I’m not sure I recommend carrying it this way!).
This style is very similar to the Timeless Bifold, but the gold Chanel hardware is a touch more flashy. The elegant dark blue is also nice alternative standard black, and best of all, this Chanel wallet clocks it at sub-$1,000 retail.
For the Barbiecore Fan
Chanel’s Classic Small Flap Wallet design is based on one of the brands iconic handbags (my personal favorite) in wallet form. This style fits all of your essentials, and at 4.1 × 4.5 × 1.2 inches, is tucks nicely into small bags.
It’s approximately 0.5 inches larger than Chanel’s Small Wallet, but with that additional size comes 2x the number of card slots as well as a zippered (vs. snap-closure) coin compartment. This too retails for sub-$1,000. Opt for the pink caviar leather version if you love the Barbiecore aesthetic and hate digging through the black hole of your larger bags to find your wallet.
For the Girl Who Carries Her Life in Her Bag
For those that prefer the long wallet, I recommend Chanel’s Classic Long Zipped Wallet. Measuring at 4.1 × 7.6 × 0.8 inches, it’s practically a clutch. It can accommodate all of your cards, cash and passport — and even fits an iPhone in a pinch. (The iPhone mini fits with room to spare.) It retails for $1,200, making it the priciest Chanel wallet on our list, but compared to a Chanel clutch, it’s a steal.
The zipper closure keeps everything you’ve packed inside safe and the burgundy interior (copied from Chanel’s Classic Flap bag) makes it easy to find what you’re looking for. It’s a small but thoughtful detail that embodies the brand.
